Hello
everyone. I´m trying to catch up with the posts on my blog. Every single week
that goes by I get really nervous because I realize that I´m one step closer to
reaching my objective. And I bet some of you feel exactly the same way as I do. Anyway, I´m not writing in order to tell you
about the way I´m feeling right now.
Yesterday
morning I was reading some pieces of news related to teenagers who decide to
undergo plastic surgery. Many are the motivations that lead them to take this
decision, for example, they may want to improve or adjust some physical
characteristics they don´t feel comfortable with, they may want to have some
physical traits similar to the ones from some friends or celebrities they
admire or simply, because they want to be part of a certain group (SHOCKING, HA?).
But the
question is: should teenagers be allowed to undergo this kind of surgery? I
personally think they shouldn´t. It is well known that if something goes wrong
in a surgery, your body, face or whichever body part is going under a “knife”,
may suffer the consequences in the future. But what is worse is the fact that
this has become a trend among teenagers and they run the risk of becoming
obsessed with it. How many cases there have been in which one person starts by “fixing”
small details of his/her nose or lips. And then, within a few years, it is hard
to recognize him/her because of the different transformations his/her body has
suffered. This is a really significant topic that is not given the attention
needed. Nowadays, teenagers are constantly bombarded with thousands of ads and
TV commercials which show how GREAT and SAFE it is to undergo a plastic
surgery, how your LIFE will change and how AMAZING you will feel after it.
And that, my friends, is the silliest thing I have ever heard.
I would
like to ask the parents of these children: “Sir/Miss, what were you thinking
when you let your children take such a decision? Because parents, I believe,
are the ones who should be questioned and inquired. They are the ones to be
blamed because they cannot see the problems and risks beyond their eyes. They would
do anything in order to please their spoiled children.
I´m not
against plastic surgery when it is used properly. People, who have suffered
terrible accidents, see a solution to their problems. It is amazing how plastic
surgery can change the life of a person who has several injuries that probably
will never disappear. But when people, especially teenagers, have the luck to
have all their body parts in the correct place and in a perfect state, I cannot
see the need of destroying their own body. Because, like it or not, that shows
that you don´t love yourself, not even a little.
So, what do
you think about this? Should plastic surgery be banned for teenagers or not?
Leave your
comments.
Have a nice
rest of the week
I think adult people can do whatever they want with their lives. In some cases, these changes have a great impact on the self-esteem of many people and I think that's OK. It's up to them what they do with their bodies, after all, it is theirs, isn't it? However, I totally disagree with parents who let their little daughters undergo a surgery. Teenagers are really impulsive and, in the future, they might regret having taken that decision. That's the role of parents. Teenagers may hate their parents for being so strict, but in the end, they will be grateful.
