FOR EXPORT

I would like to start my post with these two images:

Disturbing, ha? Well, the ones who know me very well know that I really stand up not only for Human Rights but also for WOMEN´S RIGHTS. It is not that I´m a complete feminist or the kind, but I recognize the fact that women need men in their lives. That is something we cannot change. Anyway, whenever I turn on the TV and watch a piece of news which shows women who are being kidnapped, brutally hit, burned and cruelly murdered I go actually really mad. But when I see the cases of human trafficking that are part of our society nowadays and that there is little help from the members of the government, who pretend to pay attention to this issue “without paying attention”, well, that is something I still cannot understand.

We live in a puritan society in which women are not forgiven for their wrong actions and behavior. Instead, they are constantly pointed out and punished by the whole society. And it is this society, full of sin and transgressions, the one which perpetuates and hides actions such as human trafficking.

Men and women were born in equality, or that is what is still believed. But these women, who are captured, taken out from their home and country, living in deplorable conditions and forced to work as SEXUAL SLAVES, don´t seem to enjoy the same rights. Why? Well, that is something that I still don´t understand. But what I cannot stand is the fact that the whole community is the one who let this huge issue go by as if it were nothing. I can expect that behavior from the Government because, like it or not, most of the members belonging to it are immersed in human trafficking. But is it possible that common people, like you and me, are so blind not to see what is going on around us? If I have to be sincere, I´m really ashamed of the society which I live in. One of the most outstanding and respectable women in our country is Susana Trimarco (her daughter Marita Veron was captured by a human trafficking band in 2002) who is still fighting not only to find her beloved daughter but also to stop this abominable and atrocious crime. Thanks to her, thousands of women and young women have been rescued and are now leaving their lives freely, as they should be.

So, it is time for us to reflect upon our lives and honor the noun that has been given in order to characterize our existence. LET´S BE MORE HUMANE AND START LOOKING AROUND US.

Thank you!!!

I´m a barbie girl in a PLASTIC world!

Hello everyone. I´m trying to catch up with the posts on my blog. Every single week that goes by I get really nervous because I realize that I´m one step closer to reaching my objective. And I bet some of you feel exactly the same way as I do.  Anyway, I´m not writing in order to tell you about the way I´m feeling right now.

Yesterday morning I was reading some pieces of news related to teenagers who decide to undergo plastic surgery. Many are the motivations that lead them to take this decision, for example, they may want to improve or adjust some physical characteristics they don´t feel comfortable with, they may want to have some physical traits similar to the ones from some friends or celebrities they admire or simply, because they want to be part of a certain group (SHOCKING, HA?).

But the question is: should teenagers be allowed to undergo this kind of surgery? I personally think they shouldn´t. It is well known that if something goes wrong in a surgery, your body, face or whichever body part is going under a “knife”, may suffer the consequences in the future. But what is worse is the fact that this has become a trend among teenagers and they run the risk of becoming obsessed with it. How many cases there have been in which one person starts by “fixing” small details of his/her nose or lips. And then, within a few years, it is hard to recognize him/her because of the different transformations his/her body has suffered. This is a really significant topic that is not given the attention needed. Nowadays, teenagers are constantly bombarded with thousands of ads and TV commercials which show how GREAT and SAFE it is to undergo a plastic surgery, how your LIFE will change and how AMAZING you will feel after it. And that, my friends, is the silliest thing I have ever heard.

I would like to ask the parents of these children: “Sir/Miss, what were you thinking when you let your children take such a decision? Because parents, I believe, are the ones who should be questioned and inquired. They are the ones to be blamed because they cannot see the problems and risks beyond their eyes. They would do anything in order to please their spoiled children.

I´m not against plastic surgery when it is used properly. People, who have suffered terrible accidents, see a solution to their problems. It is amazing how plastic surgery can change the life of a person who has several injuries that probably will never disappear. But when people, especially teenagers, have the luck to have all their body parts in the correct place and in a perfect state, I cannot see the need of destroying their own body. Because, like it or not, that shows that you don´t love yourself, not even a little.

So, what do you think about this? Should plastic surgery be banned for teenagers or not?

Leave your comments.

Have a nice rest of the week

ART OR VANDALISM?

Hi everyone! How are you doing? We are almost at the end of the year. Exiting, ah? Well, I was thinking about what to post during the whole weekend. And to be sincere, I thought I was running out of ideas. But then I realized that there was something that it is actually really interesting to talk about. And that topic is related to graffitis.
I remember the last time I went to Buenos Aires (this year, on winter holidays) I was stunned by all the graffitis that embellished and decorated the walls of the city and even the sides of the trains. To me, graffitis represent amazing pieces of art that are not really given the attention they deserve. I really admire the way in which those artists (because they are artists) depict and express their ideas, whether they are social, political or personal. But what happens when these artists decide to take over private properties, such as the walls of some important hotels, schools or houses, in order to portrait their ideas or thoughts? Well, in such cases; even though I love their pieces of art, I think they should take into account other people´s rights and respect them as well. Some people, especially those who own some of the most important properties in the city, believe that “graffiteros” (this is the name given to the ones painting graffitis) should be punished and arrested because of their actions. They refer to these artists as vandals or hooligans. And up to a certain point I believe they are all right because they are protecting their possessions, but I don´t think that such extreme measures should be taken. In order to prevent violent and aggressive situations, I strongly believe that governments should leave some empty white walls in some places of the city in order for these “graffiteros” to make use of them and in this way ornament and decorate the city. If you haven´t had the chance to appreciate this kind of art, I stalwartly recommend you to do it. The ability and talent these people have is unbelievable. They have a gift and as such they have to exploit it. So, it is absolutely essential to find a balance so as to give these artists the space and respect they deserve.
What do you think girls?

Have a great weekend :)

p/s:  Just in case you want to know, here is the link of a TV program called “Grafiteros del Mundo”. It is a really interesting program which shows the life of these artists around the world.
